Shiba Inu’s anonymous lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, has recently shared some significant information about TREAT, the upcoming reward token of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, amidst the growing excitement for the public beta test of Shibarium, the layer-2 scalability solution.
In response to a tweet from popular Shib Army content creator, @LucieSHIB, about TREAT’s launch alongside Shibarium, Shytoshi confirmed that this would not be the case and emphasized that Shibarium would only utilize tokens in the ecosystem but not be responsible for minting. During the weekend, Shytoshi discussed TREAT, a forthcoming incentive token of the Shiba Inu ecosystem that scammers are exploiting to deceive unwary individuals, capitalizing on the buzz surrounding the public beta launch of Shibarium. He also warned against buying any TREAT knock-offs as they have no connection to the Shiba ecosystem.
TREAT’s development was announced in July 2022 in a blog post by Shytoshi, where he stated that the team was developing the token quietly to ensure its use case was well-defined and outlined. Aside from serving as a reward token for SHIB holders, TREAT aims to provide balance for the algorithmic stablecoin SHI and rewards for “SHIB: The Metaverse” and the blockchain version of the Collectible Card Game “Shiba Eternity.”
According to Shytoshi, TREAT is a significant step in the final landing of the massive project to full decentralization, which will benefit the current SHIB ecosystem holders. However, it’s worth noting that TREAT and SHI are still under development, and all other tokens claiming to be related to the Shiba Inu ecosystem are not genuine.
Shytoshi has reminded the Shib Army that all tokens and products on the beta network are for testing purposes only, and they should wait for the official Shibarium main net launch before making any purchases. The beta release of Shibarium is highly anticipated, but it’s crucial to exercise caution and avoid falling victim to scams.
